  1. Job Function Summary

The ideal candidate will globally lead the formation and practice of network automation engineering across the network in a highly demanding and fast paced environment.  This role will focus primarily on enterprise and datacenter networking automation with secondary responsibilities to participate in day to day engineering of the broader network.  The engineering responsibilities will include all aspects of the network from the discovery, engineering, and adoption of new and emerging automation technologies across network infrastructures supporting Market Data, Trade Execution, low latency, Enterprise desktop connectivity, Enterprise compute grids, Corporate Wi-fi, remote offices, and Enterprise WAN/MAN.  This role will also serve as the primary interface into a broader firm-wide working group for automation.

The candidate must be a subject matter expert with hands-on experience in network engineering and automation with experience in implementation and operations of enterprise networks with extreme uptime and stability requirements.  He/she must be able to lead a group of technical engineers across our global offices across US, EMEA, and APAC to formulate and execute an automation strategy for networks.

  1. Principal Responsibilities
  • Serve as the firm-wide technical expert in Enterprise Network automation and programming.
  • Technical leadership role for the creation of a network automation discipline and standards across the global network in all networking contexts.
  • Act as the primary interface into a firm-wide automation working group and represent global networks.  Engineer and implement a global network automation framework and help train staff and stakeholders. 
  • L4/L3 operational support of the network automation service.

 

  1. Qualifications/Skills Required
  • Bachelors degree in a related field required
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a technical engineering role for networks. 
  • Hands on experience in network programing and engineering network automation, specifically Zero Touch Provisioning, zero touch backup / restore, and automation of day to day tasks to support the global network. 
  • Proven ability to work hands on as well as in a strong technical leadership capability in a global organization.  Strong communication skills across engineering staff and Sr. executives.
  • Expert skills in automation platforms and programming languages, including but not limited to:  Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt Stack, Django platforms.  Programming expert in Python, Java, Perl, TCL, or other relevant languages.  (Python preferred).
  • Adequate to expert skills in Enterprise Network technologies including but not limited to:  Route/switch, Cisco, Arista, trading and market data networks, Wi-Fi, WAN engineering, routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP), Layer 2, VXLAN, Multicast, Enterprise QoS, POE, networks support voice and video (Real-time media).
  • Knowledge and experience in network management platforms and control environments, more specifically, Lifecycle and infrastructure hygiene, network hardware and software testing and certification, project delivery and execution in a fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge of DMZ and Network Security technologies.  Experience with Network management technologies is a plus.
